Tips for Living with Acne

Living with acne can be frustrating, especially when it seems like there is so much contradicting information about what really works for acne-prone skin. But what even is acne?

Living with acne can be frustrating, especially when it seems like there is so much contradicting information about what really works for acne-prone skin. But what even is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition caused by an overproduction of oils and a buildup of bacteria that leads to different types of spots: blackheads, whiteheads, or pimples. Acne can affect people of all ages, but it is most common among teenagers. And when we say common, we mean it - 80% of the American population lives with acne, so you are not alone.

Although there is no cure for acne, there are ways to minimize the appearance of blemishes and there are practices that you can implement to avoid worsening it. We have done the research for you and laid out the best tips for living with acne.

Tip #1: Be consistent with a routine

Routines are only beneficial when you stick to them. When’s the last time you saw immediate results after trying something for the first time? (If you have, share your secrets with us!) But really, you can’t expect to have clear skin after washing your face once.

That’s why this is always our #1 tip: stick to your skincare routine. For acne-prone skin, we like to say “less is more” because you do not want to overwash and cause further inflammation to the skin.

And so the best routine includes - Start off with our Glycolic Acid Face Wash to cleanse your skin, followed by our Acne Treatment Gel and finish it up with our Anti-Aging SPF30 Sunscreen Moisturizer (when using in the day time) or our Bright & Clear Cream (when using at night time).

Tip #2: Do not pick at your skin, treat it

If you have been dealing with acne for a while, you have probably heard the words “do  not pick at your face” more times than you can possibly count. And we’re here to tell you again - do not pick at your face.

By picking at your pimples, you risk pushing the bacteria deeper into your skin which can cause the pimples to get more inflamed and it can lead to permanent scarring. Instead, we recommend you treat your acne with products designed to fight even the most stubborn pimples.

One of the most powerful ingredients for acne is benzoyl peroxide, as it works to unclog the pores of excess oil, treating existing acne and helping to prevent new blemishes. Our Acne Treatment Gel with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is a gentle and effective treatment that can be used 1-3 times daily.

With only 7 other ingredients, our Acne Treatment Gel was created to treat acne as well as protect the skin from irritation and dryness.

Tip #3: Use products that contain Glycolic Acid

Being the smallest AHA on a molecular level, glycolic acid gets through the skin easier than other AHAs. Not only that, but glycolic acid works by exfoliating dead skin cells which makes the skin look smoother and brighter. This is good news for those who struggle with acne!

With a whole range of products that include Glycolic Acid laced pads and toners, Touch Skin Care has your back when it comes to treating acne-prone skin. Just to name one of the many products, our Glycolic Acid face wash works by cleansing your skin with 10% glycolic acid, perfect for those with acne as it is very important to properly cleanse the skin.

There are many other options at Touch Skin Care to treat acneic skin with glycolic acid, such as our Glycolic Acid toner, Glycolic Acid Pads and Glycolic acid face cream. Test them out for yourself to see why we are so passionate about this ingredient and all its wonders for the skin.
